Our story

A service mindset for public infrastructure

As a veteran-led company, we bring a service mindset to securing public infrastructure and building the workforce that defends it.

Our leadership comes from the SANS Institute and the CIS Critical Security Controls community, with decades of combined experience in security, GRC, and building the federal cyber workforce. We have been working in the federal space since 2015.

Matt Beaghley

CEO

Matt leads FedShark's work securing critical infrastructure and building the workforce that defends it. He served 20 years as a Naval Flight Officer in the E-2C Hawkeye, with combat deployments aboard aircraft carriers. He is a TOPGUN AIC course graduate and an E-2C Weapons Tactics Instructor. At the SANS Institute, he built cybersecurity training programs for DoD and federal agencies, and as a consultant he has helped companies build cybersecurity programs and expand access to cyber training. Outside of work, he is an avid motorcycle rider who founded Rolling Freedom Motorcycles in Lake Tahoe, and he plays tennis regularly in San Diego.

Kelli Tarala

Director of GRC

Kelli leads FedShark's governance, risk, and compliance work, building security programs and policies that people work with instead of around. With more than 20 years in GRC, she helps leadership teams and boards align cyber risk with business risk across assessments, policy, and third-party risk. She is the founder of AuditScripts and co-founder of Enclave Security, a former SANS instructor and course author, an IANS faculty member, and Technical Editor of the CIS Critical Security Controls.
